tech gadget guide Even though Black Friday became Brown Thursday or Tan Wednesday it’s not too late to grab the tech gifts you’ll want to give this year.  Here’s  our annual tech gift guide with a variety of items for everyone from tots to teens, outdoors lovers and divas. Some for fun and some just plain practical. Happy Holidays!

 3D Printing Pen3dpen

Shades of the Big Bang theory. Let your creative friends bring their imagination to life with a pen that creates three-dimensional plastic drawings. Instead of releasing ink, this pen extrudes warm thermoplastic that hardens within seconds, allowing you to create three-dimensional freehand drawings. You can download blueprints of a 6″-tall Eiffel Tower, a napkin holder, or even Istanbul’s Sultan Ahmed Mosque and create 3D models that will harden in seconds (think a combination between a glue gun and an ink pen). Includes 50 plastic refills in assorted colors. $100 from hammacher.com.

Ringly Smart Jewelry

Diamonds may not be a girl’s best friend anymore but her social network sites may be. This ring that looks like a large cocktail ring is also an alert that will sync with her phone. She’ll be informed of calls, e-mails, and other notifications with discrete vibrations and colored lights, without having to peek at her mobile device.

Ringly connects to her phone and sends her customized notifications through vibration and light to notify her about the things that matter most. She can put her phone away and enjoy the moment (with you). You can preorder and give a picture of it but the Ringly won’t be shipping until after the holidays. In sizes 6, 7, 8. In several colors. $195, ringly.com.

Toymail WIFI Mailman

Took me a few minutes to figure this one out but it’s pretty cool for kids too young to use a mobile phone. By downloading the free app, parents or long-distance family members can send messages to the child’s animal inbox. When a kid receives a message through the Mailman animal, they can reply right from the toy. Children do not have to have a phone in their hands to hear messages or reply to them. The app works on Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad devices and Android phones running Android version 4.0 (or newer). Different animals available. $60, toymail.co.

 Macbook Decals

Want a little giggle with your mac book or your charger? Check out these decals that make your keyboard look like LEGO bricks or the clever use of the apple logo. A variety of fun chargers will give you a smile every time you have to charge up. Easily removed and leaves no residue. $18, macbookdecal.com.

golf

Swingbyte

Cheaper than a private golf coach, this one-ounce 3-D analyzer clips onto clubs to deliver real-time data on each swing’s speed, angle, and plane for immediate adjustments (or post-game review from the comfort of the 19th hole). It also saves the records so golfers can track their progress over time or back up a bet. Connects via Bluetooth on iOS and Android. $170, swingbyte.com.

bike speaker

Bicycle iPhone Sound Enhancer

Like a battery-free boom box for a bike, this weatherproof silicone amplifier case snaps onto standard handlebars and uses an old-fashioned curved horn to boost the iPhone’s volume. It has big, 13-decibel sound and an adjustable strap that snaps onto most handlebars. $20, uncommongoods.com.

ipadzoom

iPad Telephoto Lens

Beyond giving iPads the ability to capture close-up shots from distances tablet-lovers never dreamed, this detachable 10x optical zoom lens (or 12x zoom for the iPad mini) boasts a few extra-special effects—like turning the device into a widescreen version of binoculars. A manual focusing ring lets them tweak to get just they look they like.  The lens adds 10-12 times telephoto power to your iPad. For ipad 2, 3, 4 and the ipad mini. $25, photojojo.com.

sound

Eton Sound System

Campfire sing-alongs were due for an upgrade. With its splash-resistant shell, sizable solar panel, and carabiner-ready loops for hooking onto a backpack, this compact (3 x 7 x 8-inch) wireless Bluetooth speaker is the new essential for outdoor audio (and takes up a lot less space than that banged-up old guitar). $70, amazon.com.

iPhone Ststicky notesicky Notes

It’s the sticky-note for the 21st century but still making a list the old fashioned way. A pad of 80 adhesive-backed sheets that exactly fit on the back of an iPhone. There’s even a hole cut out for the camera lens, should one need to snap a photo while buying groceries. Comes in four colors. Designed for iPhone 5, 5s, and 5c. 80 sheets per pad. $8, ilovehandles.com.

Happy  Shopping!
